Jean joined Bradbury Fields some eight years ago when she retired from her husband’s retail business, and after enjoying her retirement for a short time decided she needed something to fill her days.
She responded to an advert and came to look around Bradbury Fields, where she was
“captivated by the friendly atmosphere”
and joined as a volunteer supporting our Active Vision Clubs which run four days per week, providing support to visually impaired people attending the Clubs on a daily basis.
Jean is always ready to lend a hand with whatever is asked, whether it is calling bingo numbers, helping out with crafts, distributing the lunches or supporting our social club evenings during which she can be found behind the bar, serving meals or selling raffle tickets.
Jean has become an integral part of Bradbury Fields’ services and three years ago joined our Board of Trustees, representing the views of volunteers.
Her sound business knowledge has been a tremendous asset to Bradbury Fields.
In recognition of Jean’s long and committed service she was invited to attend Buckingham Palace just prior to the jubilee.
