Working for us in our Sefton office is our administrator Hilary Lynch. But she is much more than an administrator she really embraces what working for a charity means. Hilary states her ethos is “Older people are important “or “Older People Matter” and to see a positive outcome for older people using our services is so rewarding”
Hilary has been employed at our Sefton office for a number of years and was there when the merger between Southport and Liverpool took place in 2008. Bearing this in mind she has seen a number of changes over this time including moving to new larger premises and an increase in services delivered from our Sefton office as well as increases in staff.
Hilary’s remit is as an administrator but due to her caring nature she gets involved in a number of other areas often in her own time. This includes running flu clinics, going out assisting with clubs and conducting initial risk assessments in the homes of clients. Hilary enjoys these aspects as she really gets to meet diverse groups of older people and this really embeds to her what Age Concern Liverpool & Sefton are here for and the positive effect we have on people lives.
Hilary has stated that she sees many older people for one service but quickly spots that they may benefit from other services we offer and refers them on. She has seen some of our services such as our IT (teaching older people to use a computer in their own home) grow to such an extent that there is a large waiting list as demand is outstripping supply!
Hilary is also a keen fundraiser and has run the Liverpool Santa Dash to raise money for older people and enlisted her family and even the dog in this activity!
Recently Hilary has embarked on external study supported by the Organisation and is progressing well with her NVQ 3 in Business Administration.
Hilary enjoys working in the Sefton office and has great respect for the other staff and the valuable team of volunteers who make things happen and support older people. She is quick to point out that all the valuable work we do is a team effort and that she hopes that when she gets older and needs support she finds an organisation that can support older people as well as Age Concern Liverpool & Sefton.
